About
In this internet and the rapid development of artificial intelligence, it became much vulnerable for us to become confused with the idea of who we are or the identity of ourselves. In this duo exhibition, we want to emphasize the importance of finding the self from delving into one’s unconscious self rather than focusing on the established personas that we all need to create to survive in this Capitalistic society today. It is so much easier to determine one’s identity and even we like to claim, lose oneself via unconsciously comparing with others in constant competition. Borrowing from Adler's statement in the novel “courage to be disliked” he reminds us that “no experience is in itself a cause of our success or failure.” (22) It is so suspectable for human beings to perceive the information received as a black and white concept, especially when it is digitalized immensely. Yet, pivoting away from this mindset can truly free one of us from the conceptual prison that we all may make without realizing. It may be considered perfectionism or even trauma. Inspired by the Adler's theory, we want to remind the audience into this duo exhibition show that we all have our abilities to steer into our own paths, so called “self-determining” rather than anchoring to define our valuable past experiences as pain and suffering. This is not to claim that we do not consider one’s trauma lightly, however, we want to delve deeper into the process of growing from the past trauma and investigate further into that process and how we think learning more about unconscious realm can help to understand better about this process. Instead of being caged from trauma or pain, you could express it artistically. Through the reliance of the unexpected hidden in human unconsciousness, we danced with fear through each piece. We let every stroke and symbolic decision be driven by trauma, which gets healed and reconstructed into art, now into a bigger immersive experience through this exhibition.
